The next two meetings about how parents can protect children from online dangers is Monday (10/27) at Masons Cove Elementary at 6 p.m. followed by Tuesday (10/28) at Glenvar Elementary at 6:30 p.m.

The Roanoke County School Board has named Dr. Jamie Soltis as the next superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Soltis will succeed Dr. Ken Nicely, who announced his retirement in September 2025 after a 35-year career in education and 33 total years with RCPS.

After eight years as superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools (RCPS), Dr. Ken Nicely has announced he will retire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year, culminating a 35-year career in education and 33 total years with RCPS.
